On December 10, 2023, the Association of Tanzania Insurers (ATI), in collaboration with the Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority (TIRA), jointly provided assistance, including food and supplies, to the victims of the floods that occurred on December 2, 2023, in the Hanang District of Manyara Region.

Presenting the donations, Mr. Kajiba Elias and Insurance Commissioner Dr. Baghayo A. Saqware expressed their deep concern for the victims and highlighted the decision to involve insurance companies in contributing to help those affected.

The items distributed included 2,400 kg of rice, 1,200 kg of beans, 100 kg of sugar, 500 kg of wheat, 1,080 litres of cooking oil, 48 cans of milk, 208 plates, 202 cups, 8 buckets, 5 bags of clothes, 22 kg of nutritional flour, 72 tea packs, 12 water bucket soaps, 400 regular soaps, and 72 handwashing soap bottles, along with 1,200 packets of salt.

In expressing gratitude, the Hanang District Commissioner, Ms. Janneth Mayanja, acknowledged the significant impact of the insurance sector’s aid, particularly in meeting the needs of young children with provisions like milk and nutritional flour. She encouraged other institutions and individuals to follow the example set by the Tanzanian Insurance Companies Association and insurance companies in volunteering whatever they can.
